Nigeria Now Set For 5G Network Launch- Minister

Minister clarifies, as mixed reactions trail MTN's 5G network license  claims | Nairametrics

After satisfactory outcome of studies and investigations on the possible health hazards of the 5G network, the Federal Government is now ready for the launch.

The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, who made the disclosure as he spoke to the media in Abuja, stated that the decision followed an outcome of thorough investigations, research and trial absolving it of posing security or health threat.

He added that the national policy on 5G stands at 95 per cent done and will be presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in due course, just as he dismissed concerns that COVID-19 was associated with the deployment of the 5G communications network.

“I want to give you the assurance that 5G communication network is in the pipeline.” Pantami confirmed.

He said the Ministry had engaged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) concerning spectrum for commercial purposes and will soon give it to mobile operators to start deployment.
