The Nigeria Center for Disease a Control, NCDC, on Sunday recorded 322 New cases of COVID-19.
The development comes as five new casualties were recorded in Nigeria on Sunday, August 23, 2020.
Consequently, the five new deaths took the COVID-19 deaths in Nigeria from 997 to 1,002.
The NCDC revealed that the new cases took Nigeria’s current virus burden to 52,227.
The 322 new COVID-19 infections were recorded in 17 states of the federation; as well as Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Lagos was first in the list of states which reported new infections.
The breakdown of the figures on a state-by-state basis is as follows: Lagos (130), Bauchi (36), FCT (25), Edo (17); Bayelsa (14), Ogun (14), Oyo (14), Anambra (13) and Kaduna (12).
Others states which reported new infections include – Ondo (11), Abia (10), Osun (6), Plateau (5), Kwara (5); Kano (4), Ebonyi (3), Sokoto (2) and, Borno (1).
In addition, a total of 38,945 patients have so far been discharged from various isolation facilities across the country; as at Sunday night.
