Nigerian Army Nabs 6 Herdsmen For Destroying Farmlands

Nigerian army personnel from 707 Special Forces Brigade has during their routine patrol seized six herdsmen caught destroying a farmland in Kwata Sule. In a statement by Brigadier General Texas Chukwu who is the director, army public relations, the herdsmen were apprehended on Saturday, March 17. 

The statement:

Troops of 707 Special Forces Brigade have arrested 6 herdsmen, caught in the act of farmland destruction. Troops while on patrol in the general area of Kwata Sule on 17 March encountered the herdsmen in the act prompting their arrest. 

After initial interrogation, the suspects were handed over to the police for further action. 

Similarly, troops on patrol in the general area of Chembe, Tse-Gundu, Tse-Iordye and Sbaor settlements sighted two herdsmen on motorcycle along Kwata Shaor river bank. 

The Herdsmen abandoned their motorcycle and fled. On search of the general area, one round of 7.62mm special was discovered. Troops continue to dominate the general area with patrols. 

It has been earlier reported that soldiers on Operation Lafiya Dole encountered an armed militia in Bauchi state resulting in an exchange of fire between the two groups. In a statement by Brigadier General Texas Chukwu who is the director, army public relations, the encounter happened on Saturday, March 17 at Burra Junction in Ningi Local Government Area. It was reported that the group opened fire on the soldiers who bravely retaliated killing four of the Herdsmen.
