The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) in a renewed onslaught against smuggled frozen poultry products as a way of protecting local investors has intercepted eight hundred and ten (810) cartons of smuggled poultry products.

The Headquarters Monitoring Team Idiroko Axis team Coordinator Deputy Comptroller Yahaya Biri Usman, while conducting the media round the seizure pointed out that his team has an effective synergy and collaboration with the resident Units and Commands of the Nigeria Customs Service and remain totally committed to eradicating the menace of smuggling.

The Coordinator expressed the determination of the team to explore avenues of ensuring practical compliance with the Headquarters directive on zero tolerance for smuggled poultry products.

He maintained that the anticipated launch of Operation Hawk Descend by the Customs will further boost the operational pedigree of his team towards ensuring that fiscal policies of the Federal Government in terms of trade is jealously guided.

The Coordinator confirmed that his team alongside others are fully functionally equipped to tackle the hydra headed monster of smuggling and vowed to stop at nothing until sustainable success is achieved.

While fielding questions on the fate of the seized poultry products, the Coordinator stated that it will be destroyed and buried in a designated site at the NCS premises Ikeja under the watch of critical agencies of Government including NAFDAC.

The Coordinator called on Nigerians to support the Nigeria Customs Service in its Anti-smuggling crusade through genuine information that will aid tracking smugglers and their illicit transactions.

He expressed satisfaction with the Comptroller-General of Customs Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde CFR and his Management for the enormous support given to his team.
