The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 500 litres Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) suspected to be illegally sourced and substances suspected to be Cannabis
sativa during an operation in Folu Community, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
The operation was conducted by personnel of Forward Operating Base (FOB)
LEKKI on 24 August 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal trade and
storage of petroleum products as well as the proliferation of illicit drugs within the
Base’s Area of Operations.
The suspects fled the location before they could be apprehended, while the
recovered exhibits were secured and conveyed to the Base for further
investigation and appropriate action in accordance with established procedures.
The operation underscores the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to disrupting activities
that threaten national economic interests, public safety and security within its
Area of Operations.
