A new group, Youth Engagement and Inclusion Agenda, a platform for engaging Nigerian youths ahead of the 2023 Presidential election was unveiled in Lagos on Monday.
Mr. Aragbe Idris, the convener of the meeting said that though a movement; the group would not hesitate to endorse a political platform with youth inclusiveness. Idris said the group would remain a non-partisan platform interested in the nation’s governance; especially who becomes the next president.
“Presidency is not a joke. We have professionals in our midst who are interested in politics. Basically, our aim is to make the group a movement of Nigerian youths to influence who eventually becomes president.
“We must get it right in 2023, hence our coming together. It is a youth agenda that is open to all Nigerian youths, irrespective of tribe or religion.
“It is our inaugural meeting…We have made decisions on certain strategies for the movement which is geared towards creating more awareness in Nigerian youths on the need to be part of governance.
“We want Nigerian youths this time to either participate actively by contesting or use their numbers to decide who is elected,”
“We are more interested in the Nigeria project and not age.
“We want to ensure that youths become part of governance come 2023. Age is not relevant here. We need leaders with the mindset to build Nigerian youths.” he said.
