Electricity supply in Ghana will face some challenges following inadequate gas supply from Nigeria.
Already, Ghanaians are bracing up to face the situation as intermittent power outages would likely occur as a result of reduction in gas supply from Nigeria, a statement from Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) says.
Gas supply has reduced to 6.0 million standard cubic of gas (mmscf) from the agreed 120.0 mmscf due to vandalism to the West Africa Gas Pipelines.
“Following this development, engineers have commenced the process of converting all dual fuel thermal plants to run on Light Crude Oil to resolve the challenge,” the statement said.
The process is expected to take a few days, it added.
“During this period, the power supply system may experience some challenges thereby affecting power supply stability.”
