NIPCO
Nipco plc, has donated relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs) camps Gashua, Yobe, State.

Managing Director of Nipco, Mr Venkataraman Venkatapathy while sympathising with the Executive Governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam on the spate of insurgent attacks in the state pledged the company’s support through donation of relief materials  to ameliorate the sufferings of the IDPs.

He said the succour being offered is to compliment the efforts of the state government in addressing the plight of the displaced persons who by providence had to be dislocated from their original settlements.

Mr Venkatapathy explained that the intervention is a way of identifying with the people who have been traumatised and an avenue of giving back to the society by way of corporate social responsibility.

According to him, similar assistance had been rendered through the Victims Support Fund [VSF] meant to address the problem of people and communities affected by insurgency in the northeast in July 2014.

Making the presentation at the Yadi Barkin Kasuwa in Gashua ,director of the company ,Alhaji Yakubu Mohammed said “ we have come to see the IDPs in their camps    and feel their pains with the ultimate objective of rendering  help to ease their sufferings “.

He pointed out that Nipco is deeply concerned with the plight of the IDPs stressing that no responsible men and women want to be in this type of situation as it is now up those of us either as an individual or corporate entity to help them at least to feed among other things.

While applauding the recent giant strides of President Muhammadu Buhari in tackling insurgency in the north eastern zone of the country, Alhaji Yakubu the company will continue to support government at all levels to reduce the discomfort and want of those affected having suffered alienation due to the rebellious of few people in the society   .

Receiving the relief items which included 200 bags of rice and 350 packs of Noodles the District Head of Lawan Musa ward, Alhaji Lawan Gana Gashua thanked the company and urged other corporate organizations to emulate the gesture.

He said in the history of the IDPs assistance to the town  no corporate organization had deem it fit to assist stressing the visit of Nipco management to the camp is an enviable thing  worthy of commendation  .
