The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), says it is committed to stronger inter-agency collaboration to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation, following a strategic engagement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
During the engagement NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, who was represented by the Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy, Dr Dimie Shively Warowie, discussed areas of cooperation aimed at expanding universal, affordable and meaningful digital connectivity while ensuring the protection of Nigeria’s digital space.
The ITU applauded Nigeria’s growing regulatory maturity, noting the country’s attainment of G5-level collaborative regulation.
It also praised the leadership of the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijjani, for driving reforms within the sector.
Beyond the commendation, the ITU pledged continued support for Nigeria’s digital economy agenda, offering technical assistance, cybersecurity tools and backing for initiatives that promote inclusive connectivity and the development of functional digital transformation centres nationwide.
Both organisations agreed to sustain close collaboration, identifying digital literacy, cybersecurity capacity building, innovation support, school connectivity and regulatory alignment as immediate priorities.
The renewed partnership, they said, reflects a shared resolve to build a more inclusive, secure and competitive digital economy for Nigeria.
