It said that distribution of kerosene has been monopolised and fraudulently controlled by a cartel
The group managing director (GMD) of the corporation Dr. Ibe Kachikwu who said this frowned at the suspected sale of the product to airline operators as aviation fuel.
He said the corporation is currently concentrating effort to boost LPG as alternative cooking fuel.
“There is a lot of fraud in the kerosene sector, I don’t have passion for it.
The NNPC retail business will be expanded to boost LPG. By 2016 we will de-emphasise kerosene sale and reduce its usage and create more awareness for LPG and we will discuss how to offer free cylinders to rural people” he added.
