The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) may not have foreclosed the sale of local refineries as it expresses doubt if they (Refineries) could meet its refining target.
The group managing director (GMD) of the corporation Ibe Kachikwu while chatting with journalists in Lagos doubted the possibility of the facilities meeting projected refining capacity at the close of 90 day deadline issued for them to come alive.
He said he expected the refineries to refine at 60 percent capacity.
But he expressed deep concern that such anticipation may not be realised as according to him, “I see Port Harcourt refinery meeting the deadline”.
Kachikwu noted that one of the major problems of the refineries is lack of maintenance which has left the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC)
to go down.
