The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has said the vandalisation of a pipeline in Abulegba area of Lagos will not affect petroleum products distribution during the Christmas season.
Ndu Ughammadu general manager, group public affairs of the NNPC, said the group managing director of Corporation, Maikainti Baru has directed the Nigerian Pipelines and Storage Company to carry out full investigation of the incident and effective immediate repairs of affected portion.
Meanwhile the Lagos state commander of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Mr. Tajudeen Balogun has confirmed the fire outbreak of a petroleum products conveyor at Abulegba area of Lagos this morning.
The Civil Defence Commander said his men has taken over security of the area to avert escalation of the incident.
Balogun told Oriental News Nigeria on phone that his men are on ground to assess the level of damage and will give update later.
The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani and the councilor representing ward C, Hon. Tunde Oyekunle are also on ground to ensure there is safety in the environment and prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation.
