The Director General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General YD Ahmed has appealed to Corps Members to accept their posting to different places of primary assignment in good faith and be ready to offer their selfless service for humanity.

Ahmed stated this while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Corps Members deployed to Niger and Kaduna States.

He had earlier visited the Niger State Orientation Camp in Paiko, Paikoro LGA before he proceeded to Kaduna State Temporary Orientation Camp, located at Government College, Kurmi-Mashi.

Ahmed urged the Corps Members to appreciate the diverse nature of the country and also utilize their innate potentials, ideas and abilities as graduate youths to develop other places outside their States of origin.

He said the essence of the Scheme is to foster national unity and integration, adding that their predecessors over the years had added value to their various host communities during service.

General Ahmed admonished them to adhere to all the security tips given to them in camp, adding that the Scheme would not post any Corps Member to unsafe places.

“You must abide by all the instructions given to you. Your parents have laboured on you,  please adhere to these security tips at all times because they are for your safety”, he said.

The Director General also advised Corps Members to acquire skills from NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training, that would make them financially independent and prepared for self employment.

He added that the Scheme has partnered many institutions like Bank of Industry, Access Bank, Wema Bank, Central Bank of Nigeria, Unity Bank among others, that offer loans to Corps Members with good business proposals to start their businesses.

The DG stressed the importance for Corps Members to always dress well, especially in NYSC uniforms and be in possession of their NYSC identity cards for safety reasons.

The NYSC Niger State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Alidat Abdulwahab and her counterpart in Kaduna State, Mr Hassan Taura informed the Director General that their Corps Members have exhibited high sense of discipline, dedication and are adhering to camp rules and regulations.

Niger State registered a total of 1,134 Corps Members, comprising 495 males and 639 females.

In Kaduna Camp, there were 1,451 Corps Members comprising of 631 males and 820 females as at the time of Director General’s visit.
