The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Shuaibu Ibrahin, on Monday confirmed that the Service has commenced the enrollment of Corps members into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
This was announced during a media chat following a directive issued by the presidency to enrol all corps members into the NHIS.
The NYSC DG stated that the Service would now foot the medical bills of the corps members.
Ibrahim said the scheme had finalised plans for the enrollment with the NHIS that will capture over 300,000 corps members mobilised nationwide per annum.
The scheme, according to him “remains a solid ground to breed future leaders and drivers of national unity and development”.
Recall that the management of the NYSC commenced inspecting orientation camps across the country in preparation for their reopening in November.
The orientation camps were temporarily closed in March 2020 to prevent the spread of coronavirus among corps members.
