The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged corps members to obey COVID-19 safety protocols to prevent contacting and spreading the virus.
Mrs Chinyere Ekwe, State Coordinator, NYSC, Akwa Ibom, made the call on Friday at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members.
She told the 1, 268 corps members posted to the state that the scheme had taken steps toward ensuring their safety against the third wave of COVID-19.
“While undertaking the orientation course, we will continue to ensure that physical interactions within the camp community are limited.
“So, it is your responsibility to remain disciplined, adhere to rules and regulations, and most especially get yourselves acquainted with all of our publications,” she said.
The coordinator said that the scheme chose to hold a low key event to buttress its commitment to the campaign against the spread of COVID-19.
Ekwe commended the Gov. Udom Emmanuel-led government for its support to the scheme through the provision of camp facilities and welfare to corps members.(NAN)
