The Oba Elders’ Forum (O.E.F) has demanded for the immediate and unconditional release of Chief Amala Ndozi, who was arrested by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Team about  three days ago.

Chief Ndozi who is a prominent stakerholders in Oba community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State was arrested few days ago by the Inspector General (IGP) of Police Monitoring Team and taken to Abuja ever since.

The immediate family  of Chief Ndozi who was arrested in connection over land dispute had pleaded to the monitoring Team to grant him bail but they have been calling huge sums of money.

Our source said that the Monitoring Team under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP  Elema pegged the bail at a whopping sum of N400, 000.

Briefing news men in OBA, the chairman of the Elders’ Forum, Chief Raphael Okonkwo, and the secretary, Chief Obi Onowu, condemned the continued detention  of Chief Ndozi and the demand for huge sum of N400, 000 before his release.

Recall that both Chief Amala Ndozi and Elder Ifedinoba was arrested when they went to Oba Police Station to report about continued threat to their lives and members of their families but was boundle to Abuja while Chief Ifedinoba was released after the intervention of some prominent Oba Citizens.

They said that the demand for such huge money for bail  is  a dent on the  already bartered image of Nigerrian Police as well as negates the position of IGP of zero corruption of Nigerrian Police.

” The Elders’ Forum unequivocally demanded  that the Police should immediately and unconditionally release Chief Amala Ndozi.

That the CP Elema should  be made to face disciplinary action from the Police Service Commission (PSC) aand IGP  for abusing his office and bringing the name of Police to disrepute.

The Elders’ Forum said that after 24 hours of this briefing and Chief Ndozi was not set free , they would mobilise over one million Oba citizens to match to Police to protest and demand for his immediate release.

The group said ” we demand that CP Elema and  his team who arrested Ndozi  should be reprimanded and sent to refresher course to learn to be in tune with the current reality of Policing” .

Elders’ Forum said never in this history of Nigerrian Police especially under the current regime has any Police officer demanded such huge amount., stressing that it is alien to the Police extant laws and negates the constitution which gives the Police powers to  operate, the group warned.
