Aker BP has made a major restructuring announcement that will help the company meet its long term offshore sustainability operation.
The restructuring has led to the appointment of a new executive management team, effective January 1, 2027, as part of an organizational restructuring designed to streamline exploration, development and production activities across its Norwegian offshore operations.
The new leadership structure will be organized around the company’s upstream value chain, with the aim of improving collaboration, reducing organizational complexity and accelerating project execution.
Over the remainder of 2026, the incoming management team will develop a new operating model intended to improve efficiency and reduce costs as projects progress from exploration through production. The current executive management team will remain in place until the transition takes effect.
The restructuring will build on Aker BP’s investments in industrial data and artificial intelligence over the past decade, along with its established collaboration with alliance partners.
“Aker BP is uniquely positioned for long-term value creation on the Norwegian continental shelf. The changes we are making will strengthen that position,” said CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik. “The shelf is changing, and tomorrow’s shelf requires something different from us than yesterday’s did.”
Under the new structure, Petter Sørhaug will lead Find & Develop, Tommy Sigmundstad will oversee Build, Lars Høier will lead Produce, Øystein Arvesen will oversee Optimise, and Knut Sandvik will lead PDO Projects.
The executive team will also include David Tønne as CFO, Marit Blaasmo overseeing Services, Thomas Hoff-Hansen leading Digital, Paula Doyle heading Strategic Innovation and Rolf Nysteinoverseeing Transformation.
Aker BP said development of the new organizational structure is being carried out in cooperation with employee representatives and the company’s safety delegates.
