OKERIMI ORO CELEBRATES ONITA-AJIGBA FESTIVAL DECEMBER 28, 29*

Onita-Ajigba Festival, the annual sociocultural event of the people of Okerimi Oro will this year take place in the town on December 28 & 29.

It was an unanimous decision of the entire people of the community to move the event out of Lagos since after last year’s celebration which was the tenth.

The event is principally  created as an avenue to showcase the people cultural heritage and address developmental issues. It also serve as an event where resources could be pooled together for development projects.

The Organizing Committee set up for the planning and coordination of the event is working even as it seeks the support of corporate bodies and well-meaning Nigerians towards making the event outstandingly successful.

Colonel Felix Adeoye, the National Coordinator, has promised, this year’s edition will be different and remarkable.

He enumerated Youth Carnival which include musical concert and talent show as well as indoor games as part of activities that would precede the grand finale.

Meanwhile,  cultural display,  paying of homage to the monarchs present and donation for developmental projects in the community will feature at the Grand Finale.

He therefore enjoins all sons and daughters of Okerimi Oro to be part of the celebration. He also urge them to come with their friends and well wishers.

The paramount ruler of Oro Kngdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulRafiu Ajiboye Oyelaran I, has gracious given his approval of having the event in Okerimi Oro just as he gave his consent for the date.

Okerimi Oro is one of the nine generic settlements that constitute Oro Kingdom in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria.
