Former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba is to deliver anniversary lecture at the 160 years of Journalism practice in Nigeria, which is scheduled to hold on Monday, December 2, 2019 in Abeokuta, the cradle of journalism.
A statement signed by Chairman Planning Committee for Ogun State, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye and Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, Secretary respectively said the anniversary is being put together by League of Veteran Journalists
The statement added further that, the anniversary lecture titled, ’Re-inventing the practice of journalism in Nigeria with emphasis on the Influence of the Social Media’ will hold at main auditorium of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, where the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo will also be installed as the Grand Patron.
The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo will give the key note address, while former President Olusegun Obasanjo will be the Chairman, as well as the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Chief Host, while Ogun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Kunle Oluomo will bag Fellowship award of the veteran.
The statement also added that, the grand finale of the event and awards night will take place on Tuesday at Functions Hall,Jogor Centre, Liberty Road, Ibadan, and at the occasion, Alaafin Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi , Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Salisu, and host of other personalities will be in attendance.
The release stated further that, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, founder of Tribune titles and Chief Olu Aboderin of the Punch Newspapers fame would be honour post-humously, adding that audience will be entertain by Yinka Ayefele , who will also receive a Fellowship Award of the League for his contributions to the growth of the broadcast media in Nigeria.
