The African Action Alliance, on Friday, August 9, expelled its National Chairman and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore from the party.
The party at its national convention which held in Owerri, the Imo State capital also suspended 28 other members of the party.
The party immediately announced Leonard Nzenwa as the new national chairman of the party.
Sowore is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services over RevolutionNow protests.
The activist was arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS in the early hours of Saturday, August 3.
Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow protests had intended to hold across the country concurrently on Monday, August 5; a series of concurrent protest against bad governance.
Addressing a Press conference in Abuja on Sunday, spokesman of the DSS; Mr Peter Afunanya, said the activist was taken into custody because “he called for a revolution in Nigeria.”
Afunanya said DSS was “aware of information that Sowore had been in touch with foreign actors to destabilise Nigeria.”
