The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Southwest Nigeria, under the National Vice Chairman in charge of the Geopolitical Zone, Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniya has commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu and the National Chairman PCRC, Dr Faruk Maiyama on their painstaking efforts towards the security and safety of the people of southwest geopolitical zone and Nigeria at large.
At the end of a crucial meeting attended by PCRC southwest officials in Abeokuta on Tuesday 4th February 2019, which featured an in depth evaluation of some matters of community interest, including security situations in the 6 southwestern states, the PCRC said the appointment and posting of AIG Ahmed Iliyasu to zone 2 was as a great honor and blessing to the people and government of the zone.
As a result of wonderful displays of intelligence and capacity during his time as the Compol Ogun State, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu built a very positive reputation of acceptability for himself with an overwhelming vote of confidence from both Lagos and Ogun States.
His no nonsense approach to crime, coupled with many community based initiatives in partnership with PCRC earned and continues to earn him and his men an impressive crime bursting reputation till most recently in Ajah Lagos, the meeting observed.
They also commended the recent posting of new AIG Bashir. D. Makama, the immediate past Compol Ogun State to Zone 11, Osogbo, as AIG Bashir. D. Makama is another version of AIG Ahmed Iliyasu.
They see him as tactically gentle, but dangerously endowed with strategic planning and implementation skills.
They also said that a careful view of the six(6) state commands in the southwest has revealed an impressive work from the Commissioners of Police.
These set of hardworking senior officer works round the clock in synergy with other sister security agencies and in partnership with the community, through the PCRC.
“We therefore, use this medium to request that the current campaign of calumny currently ongoing against the Compol Oyo State command be ignored totally.
“CP Olukolu*remains one of the finest and community based senior Police officer the Nigeria Police must be proud of.
Though PCRC remains apolitical and have refrained from dabbling into political matters but we are at the same time, mindful that security is a collective responsibility of all.”
The PCRC, observed with satisfaction, the way and manner issues concerning operation Amotekun, an initiative of the 6 southwest governors through the DAWN commission was handled.
“The position of the IGP and PCRC National Chairman is strongly commended and we remain committed to many more action plans as an integral part of the Nigeria Police, to protect lives and properties of citizens under our IGP and his very efficient management team. ”
They also applauded the decision of the Federal Government, through the Nigeria Police Force to recruit special constables and said the PCRC will key into this project and work hand in hand with all Police formations within the geopolitical zone for the realization of the set objectives.
According to Comrade Kunle Sodipo Director Public Relations, PCRC Southwest, Nigeria, “As a way of bringing together, all security agencies for the purpose of having a common agenda for a peaceful environment in the geopolitical zone, the PCRC southwest will in a short while, organize a seminar across the southwest states.
“This seminar will include all public sectors plus partnership with state governments of the southwest.”
