The Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Aminu Tambuwal has scored the highest votes of the Sokoto State governorship election.
He however led with a slim margin of 342 votes.
Tambuwal polled 512,002, from both the March 9 governorship election and March 23 supplementary election, while his main challenger, Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came close with 511,661, losing with 341votes.
Also, the Benue State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the just-concluded supplementary governorship election in the state.
Ortom, who recently defected to the PDP, defeated his closest rival, Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 31 other contestants.
Declaring the result, the state returning officer, Sebastain Maimako, said Ortom polled a total of 434,473 votes to beat Mr Jime who got 345,155 votes.
Before the supplementary election, Ortom had scored 410,576 votes and had a lead of 81,554 votes over Jime who had scored 329,022 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), also on Sunday declared incumbent governor of Plateau State and Candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC Barrister Simon Lalong winner of the 2019 Governorship election.
The total results was declared at exactly 4am on Sunday at the end of the collation of results which lasted between 9pm on Saturday night through the early hours of Sunday.
The governor was declared the winner by the Returning Officer, Prof Richard Anande Kimbir, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue state.
Lalong emerged winner in the March 9th election and also emerged winner in the May 23rd supplementary election.
By the total results, Gov Lalong defeated his major rival, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, General Jeremiah Useni (Rtd) .
Lalong polled a total of 595, 582 votes to defeat the PDP candidate Useni who scored 546, 813 votes .
Results for the nine LGAs that took part in the supplementary poll, including Langtang South, Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Bokkos, Jos North, Kanam, Mangu, shendam and Pankshin showed that Lalong scored 12,327 new votes, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Jeremiah Useni, earned 8,487.
The Returning Officer appointed by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Kano Governorship Election, Prof. Bello Shehu, also declared incumbent Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, winner of the 2019 governorship election in the state.
The results of a combination of March 9 and 23 elections showed the All Progressives Congress garnered 1,033,695, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) netted 1,024,713.
Ganduje won with a margin of 8,982.
The supplementary election was held in 204 polling units in 22 local governments, which had a total of 121,299 registered voters.
