The National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu has stated that the POCACOV self discovery and talent search as contained in the POCACOV Neigbourhood (OGBE) games which is for value reorientation, self discovery and strategic leadership direction, is a deliberate attempt through to restore Nigeria Glory in the game of Boxing as well as other sporting events through stakeholders involvement and participation.
Amaraizu who is the Enugu state Chairman of the Boxing Association disclosed this to newsmen recently at the indoor Sports Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu on the occassion of the Celebration of AIBA international Boxing day which also coincided with the ongoing Boxing Referee and Judges Course in Enugu.
He pointed out that yawning gap of self discovery are cemented through activity base program that will trigger self discovery and by ensuring that children/Young minds enlist interest in boxing and their passion aroused.
The energies of the young minds are great and there is need to for proper utilization of energies on positive things as already provided by boxing and other sporting events.
He however highlighted that more discoveries will be a boost towards restoring Nigeria’s glory in boxing considering the ageold Nigeria positive boxing history and pedigree in the continent and internationally.
“Getting young minds that will graduate and turn into various champion will be a boost towards sustaining Nigeria boxing pedigree” and expressed displeasure on the absence of Nigeria contingent in boxing at the just concluded 2020 Tokyo Olympic.
POCACOV Ogbe (NEIGHBOURHOOD) boxing is a deliberate and predetermined to draw up a platform of enlistment of interest, passion and exposure and the resultant turning around of many boxing talents from the Neighbourhood.
“The schools are also inclusive and that is why we have invited school children to come and have the feel of the practical aspect of boxing but with the POCACOV OGBE BOXING Tournament, there will be wider network and reach out of catching them young” he concluded.
