The Police campaign against cultism and other vices POCACOV in continuation of her nationwide sensitization program against cultism and cult related activities, today in one of the nation’s TV networks, TCV program (YOUR VIEW) canvassed for Nigerian youths inculcating the virtue of sense of self esteem, sense of identity and value reorientation.

This call and plea was made by the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu while participating on the live program today, 5th August, 2020.

The POCACOV National Coordinator stressed the need for all inclusive approach and involvement of all stakeholders in the community driving approach of the campaign and save the youths from the dire consequences of cultism.

He emphasized that POCACOV as a proactive approach towards solving the challenges posed by cultism in Nigeria, adopts various methods in addressing the issue, which include, advocacy, mediation, mentorship, involvement of faith based organizations, artisans, Ministries and agencies and the traditional institutions among others.

Recall that the Inspector General of Police had earlier invited our youths, transporters, artisans, faith-based and community-based organizations, traditional Rulers, youths groups, students, market organizations, sister security agencies, the media, development partners and indeed, all well-meaning Nigerians to join forces with the Police and support the campaign in order to save Nigerian Youths from the claws of cultism and other vices and for a safe and secured nation.

The TV Live program created an opportunity for the National Coordinator of POCACOV CSP Ebere Amaraizu to situate the fact that POCACOV does not involve in arresting cultist, but creates an enabling atmosphere where the youths are properly informed of the inherent dangers in belonging to cult groups, which is more of proactive approach and not reactionary.

“Information and facts that they learn, through POCACOV community based organized activities, will guide them in making sound decisions when approached for involvement in cultism and other related activities.”

POCACOV stakeholders commend all that participated in the program and the station TVC for the opportunity to inform and educate Nigerians on the activities of POCACOV, initiated by IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, aimed at saving our youths from the dangers of cultism and other vices through advocacy, awareness creation, sensitization and re-orientation and community outreaches, amongst others.

POCACOV stakeholders, urge all Nigerians and men and women of goodwill to join as the campaign sets to be domesticated in all the states of the federation, in line with the IGP directive.

POCACOV is of the firm view that all states of the federation should embrace the program and domesticate it in view of the overall security of the nation, in line with Community policing approach, said Onuora Aninwobod, POCACOV Media Officer.
