The Assistant Inspector General, AIG, of Police Zone 2, Ahmed Iliyasu, is On the trail of some police officers found in a viral video extorting money from non essential workers to aid their passage.
According to spokesperson of Zone 2 Police Command, DSP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, “The viral video of some security agents including Police Officers on inter-state lockdown enforcement duty at Oyingbo Bus stop and environs has caught the attention of the Nigeria Police management, hence the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed A. Adamu frowns at it and has condemned the unethical and unpatriotic acts.”
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge Zone 2 Command, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, in the same vein expressed dismay at the unprofessional and unpatriotic conducts of the officers, describing the acts as ridiculous and not in line with mundane system of policing.
He therefore ordered the Commissioners of Police in charge of Lagos and Ogun, states to investigate and ensure erring officers are apprehended and disciplinary actions be taken against them, while he enjoined patriotic Nigerians and members of the public to abide strictly with the presidential lockdown directives.
Iliyasu, has set out special anti crime strategies made up of Monitoring team* X squad and Task Force to curb these menace and also urge all police officers to imbibe respect for the rule of law and human rights which is in line with best global practices and eschew all forms of corruption and corrupt practices; as no defaulter will go unpunished.
