Police confirm killing of 2 neighbourhood watch operatives in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command, has arrested three suspects allegedly linked to Tuesday morning, attack on the office of the neighbourhood watch group at Enugu Ezike, Igboeze North LGA of Enugu State.

The attack led to the killing of two members of the group and their office and patrol vehicle also burnt.

A resident, Mr Julius Apeh, said, “Such never happened in our area. Our place has always been peaceful.”

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Abubakar Lawal, has visited the scene of the incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Mr Daniel Ndukwe, stated that the Commissioner was there for on-the-spot assessment of attacks.

According to him, “The CP commiserated with family members and friends of the deceased personnel of the group and prays for the quick recovery of those hospitalized.

“He describes the act as senseless and has ordered the state CID to carry out full-scale investigations to fish out and bring the assailants to book.”

He added that three persons suspected to be connected to the act had been arrested and were helping in the ongoing investigations.
