Police Arrests Bank Robbery Kingpin Recover Firearms

The Lagos State Police Command, has arrested a suspected bank robbery kingpin and recovered firearms.

Spokesman of the Command, DSP Bala Elkana, said, “Ejigbo Police Station received a distress call that some armed robbers on motorcycle were operating outside Access Bank along Egbe Road by NNPC Junction Ejigbo and Patrol teams was swiftly deployed from Ejigbo Police Station to reinforce the Mobile Policemen on Guard duty at the Bank and engaged the armed robbers in a gun battle.”

“The armed robbers were overpowered and chased upto Egbe where their ring leader was arrested with bullet wounds while others escaped. One Brownie pistol with one live ammunition was recovered from the suspect and the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira earlier robbed from a female victim was recovered and handed over to her”

Elkana stated further that the  State Anti-Robbery Squad have taken over the investigation, and efforts are emplaced to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang. 

In another development, the Lagos State Anti Crime Patrol Team from Satellite Police Station  foiled an attempt by a car snatching syndicate to snatch a Peugeot 307 salon car at Mosalachi area, along Lagos /Badagry expressway, Mile 2.

“One Francis Abubakar ‘male’ who is the ring leader of the gang was arrested and one locally made shotgun was recovered from  the suspect” Elkana stated.

The Peugeot 307 was recovered and handed over to the owner and that SARS has taken over the case with a view of apprehending other members of the gang. Investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court, he said.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu,  has ordered full investigation and warned that crime must reduce to it’s bearest minimum in the state.
