Police Arrests Man Who Killed An UBER Driver

The Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, has arrested a suspect, Ikechukwu Ozunba, for allegedly killing and dispossessing an Uber driver of his Toyota Camry car, in Lagos State.

Ozunba had reportedly engaged the services of the Uber driver, identified as Olotu Ebenezer, and had led him to Okokomaiko area, where he allegedly murdered him and left his dismembered body parts in an uncompleted building.

The incident, which happened, in December 27, 2018, was reported to the FCID for investigation on February 14, 2019.

Assistant-Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Murtala Mani, who spoke on the arrest of the suspect, said a team of policemen, led by Festus Niyi, a Superintendent of Police (SP), tracked the vehicle to Imo State, where the suspect was arrested.

Speaking on the arrest, AIG Mani said, “ An intelligence was flickered in this office about a cab driver who was missing in a very  suspicious and fearful circumstances.

“Digging into this report, and painstaking follow-up of leads unearthed a heinous crime of armed robbery and murder.

“SP Festus Niyi and six others later tracked the vehicle to Oguta, Imo State where Ikechkwu Ozunba, a murderous gangster was arrested and the car recovered.

“Ozunba later confessed to have strangulated to death Olotu Ebenezer, driver of a Toyota Camry with  Registration Number SMK 980 FM.

“Ozunba boarded the vehicle as a customer at 2:30pm on December 27, 2018.

“Having killed Ebenezer, Ozunba disposed his remains in an uncompleted building at Okokomaiko in Lagos, where the decomposed corpse was evacuated and buried by health officials unidentified.

“The Camry, property of Susanne Congui of Ojodu, Lagos, was recovered from the suspect.”

The AIG further stated that the suspect had been charged to court. “The suspect is now facing trial at an Igbosere High Court , Lagos,” he said.
