Police Arrests Motorcycle Snatchers In Lagos

The Lagos state police command has arrested three man gang of motorcycle snatchers.

The Ipaja Police station which made the arrest said it received a distress call that some armed robbers were operating at Victor Street, Ipaja. 

Following the tip off a team of Policemen from Ipaja Division was mobilized to the scene where three suspects namely Adeleke Lateef; Lekan Bashiru and Chinedu Uzozie, were arrested in connection with the case. 

The victim, one Saheed Oloyo, whom the suspects injured with a matchet and dispossessed him of his Motorcycle was rescued and taken to hospital and he is responding to treatment. 

The Lagos state police command spokesperson DSP Bala Elkana in a statement noted that “one locally made pistol, one matchet, one knife and other weapons were recovered from them. The BAJAJ Motorcycle with registration number KRD-310-QH snatched by the suspects,  was recovered”.

“Though Investigation is  ongoing and suspects will be charged to Court for Conspiracy, Armed Robbery and Attempted Murder” Elkana said 

In addition, two traffic robbery suspects were arrested at Festac.

According to information, the Festac Police Station received a distress call that some hoodlums were sighted at 24RD, Opposite. G-Close Festac. A team of Policemen was immediately mobilized to the scene. 

Two suspects namely Obinna Alozie 21yrs old of  #19, Ogogoro Junction Iyana Iba amd Obinna Machu 27yrs old of #10, Canal road, Ajegunle were arrested.  One locally made pistol with ammunition and other dangerous weapons were recovered. Investigation is ongoing, suspects will be charged to Court, the police said.

Similarly, the Okokomaiko Police has arrested suspected some suspected armed robbers and recovered some stolen property.

“Okokomaiko Police Station received a distress call that some hoodlums were operating at Luri Filling Station, Igbo-Okoko, Okokomaiko. A team was drafted to the scene. One Abdulasisi Owoyemi,18yrs old of  Magbon Town, Badagry was arrested in connection with the case. One locally made double barrel gun and five stolen phones were recovered from the suspect” Elkana said.

Investigation is ongoing and efforts are emplaced to track down other Fleeing members of the gang. Suspect will be charged to Court.
