..Denies Presence Of Killer Herdsmen In Lagos

Hyacinth Chinweuba

The Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police, has denied publications which it claimed is being circulated on social networks within the country, on the infiltration of herdsmen in the Zonal Command area.

The Police described the publications as not only misleading but malicious, as the Assistant Inspector General, AIG Zone 2 is working tirelessly within Lagos and Ogun States.

The Police considers this rumour as false as no complaint of such has been received in the zone.

Nevertheless, in line with the Inspector General of Police,  IGP’s mandate, the AIG Zone 2 has deployed a contingent of Strike Forces and Specialized Units of the Force which includes Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Explosive Ordinance Division (EOD) and Conventional Policemen at all points to monitor Vehicles and individuals coming into the states.

The states and Zonal Intelligence Bureau SIB/ZIB Operatives have also been deployed to all nooks and crannies of the Zone for Covert operations.

The AIG has directed the two Commissioners of Police for Lagos and Ogun to supervise and monitor this intensive surveillance which will also pay serious attention to strategic places such as, worship centres, shopping malls, financial institutions, markets, business plazas, recreation centers, motor parks, Farm Lands, Remote and Rural Areas etc.

Meanwhile the AIG on behalf of officers and men of the Command wished Muslims a happy Sallah celebration as he further reiterated that the police under his watch and leadership will never collude with undesirable elements to forestall peace in the society.

The Police advised the public to go about their lawful duties as adequate security measures have been put in place to impede any ugly occurrence.
