The Police in Anambra State on Sunday night shot and killed a gunman.
The gunmen were repelled when they opened fire while approaching a checking post, according to DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, PPRO of the Anambra State Police Command, who confirmed the situation.
Around 5 o’clock, near Uli, Ihiala local government district, the shooter who was driving other armed men was neutralized while charms and their functional vehicle were found.
The Police spokesperson said: “Anambra State Police Operatives today 26/6/2022 at around 4:45pm gun down the driver delivering arm men in Uli, recovered one Honda Odyssey salon car with reg nos. WER 221 ZS-IMO and Charms.”
“The Operatives thwarted a gunman attack at a pinching point along the Onitsha/Owerri route, Uli. The assailants approached the workers at the checking station, applied one-way, and began firing randomly.
Quickly engaging the armies, the Operatives demobilized their operative vehicle. The driver was incapacitated as some of them made their escape through the undergrowth. There were no police fatalities.
