The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigeria Hockey Federation(NHF) organised annual tournament which started on July 3rd is expected to end on July 11th.
The tournament is aimed at enhanceing the development of the sports in the country and select a team for the African Cup for club Championships (ACCC) in Malawi in Sept 27.
In the Thursday’s game played at the astro-turf pitch of the Abuja Moshood Abiola Stadium is the second match for the male team.
The Police Machine took the lead just 9 minutes of resumption into the first half of the match with Emmanuel Bala opening scoring for his team in the penalty corner area inside the net .1-0 in first quarter.
The Police Machine team continued to struggle to score but the defense of the Delta Force was more stronger.
The Police Machine team was able to break through after several attempts in the 20 minute been score by Emmanuel Sunday making it 2-0 in the penalty corner area also.
The Delta Force team became stronger in their mass attack and mass defensive game and it created chances for Monday Awoh in the 29th minute to make it 2-1 and ended the second quarter.
On resumption of the third quarter, four minutes into the game Delta Force double score with Endurance Nzete to equalise the game 2-2 in the third quarter.
The third quarter was a bit tough because both team have more confidence to the side as they went in search for more goals.
The Police Machine efforts paid off in the 45th minute when Augustine Awasa scored to make it 3-2.and 57th minute he also added another goal to make it 4-2 to end the game.
Speaking after the match,the Chairman of Police Machine,CSP Kalat Shamang said that they know they have a strong team but they will be going back to their drawing to make more plans for tomorrow games against Kada Stars.
On his side, The Coach of Delta Force, Ade Jacobs, said that it was though for them but the boys try their best .
“We will be going back to our drawing board to work out our tomorrow match against Kada Stars,”he said.
“My boys played to my expectations, despite they lost the game but am proud of them.
In the other men categories Yobe Desert rollers defeated Stallions of Lagos 2-0. (NAN)
