Men of Ogun state police command have arrested two self -acclaimed pastors for killing their brother in-law over his refusal to allow them to use the frontage of his house for a church activities.

The suspects, 43 year-old Chuckwuka Stephen and Ejim Stephen (39) were said to have killed their elder sister’s husband in his farm at Ibafo axis of Obafemi-Owode local government area of the state last February, 2019.

The police command in a statement issued on Thursday in Abeokuta by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested following a complaint lodged at the Police Divisional headquarters in Ibafo by his wife.

Oyeyemi explained that the suspects, who had for long, been living with their in- law, had earlier, sent them away from the place because their conduct was no longer pleasant to him.

“But his decision was not pleasant to them and that led to their nursing animosity against him”.

The victims however, allegedly trailed the deceased to his farm in the evening of 5th of February 2019, when the deceased was alone and they matcheted him to death.

“It was when the deceased didn’t return on time that his wife traced him to the farm and met his dead body. She subsequently went to Ibafo police station where she lodged complaint.

“The two brothers were later arrested by the police at Ibafo on account of the two daughters of the deceased who informed the police that they saw the two of them earlier in their father’s farm.

“On interrogation, the two suspects denied killing their brother in-law, but when they were confronted by the two daughters of the deceased, they confessed to killing the deceased in his farm because he deprived them of continuing using of his frontage for their church activities”.

Oyeyemi said the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary for post mortem examination, while the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered for immediate transfer of the suspects to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation and prosecution.
