A 20-year-old alleged member of a robbery gang along another suspect have been arrested by Police in the Eziobodo area of Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
Officers from the Police Divisional HQ, in Nekede/Ihiagwa effected the arrest of the two suspects on Tuesday.
The robbery suspects, Godwin Danladi, 20, and one Bamaiyi Gada were said to have been arrested at their hideout in Eziobodo.
The Imo State Police spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu, while parading the suspects, said one Ak-47 riffle, two magazines and military accoutrements were recovered from them.
Ikeokwu also said that the criminals are believed to be escapees of the Imo State correctional facility that was attacked in April.
“At the point of arrest, one AK47 rifle, two magazines, two live ammunitions, one Military Camouflage and some other Military Accoutrements were recovered from them.
“They confessed to be part of the Armed Robbery gang that has been terrorising Nekede and environs.
“They are strongly believed to be part of the prison inmates that escaped from the Correctional Service on the 5/04/21. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang.”
