Police Operation Crush Arrests 25 Cultists In Lagos, Recover Firearms

Operation Crush of the Lagos State Police command has arrested 25 cultists at Ijora, Mushin and Bariga and recovered firearms from them.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Bala Elkana stated that the operatives from the Anti Cultism Unit arrested one Olaitan Rilwan ‘male’ 20 years old, with an automatic pistol concealed in his bag, at Ijora round about. 

According to Elkana, the suspect confessed to be a member of Ayie Confraternity. In a follow up operations at Bariga one Mustapha Oseni ‘male’ 23 years old and 22 others were arrested. 

In a related development, on 24/08/2019 at about 1700hours, Operatives from the Anti Cultism Unit arrested one Olaitan Rilwan ‘male’ 20 years old along Gaskiya road, Mushin. One locally made pistol with eight rounds of live cartridges was recovered from him. 

“Investigation is ongoing and suspects will be charged to law court at the conclusion of the investigation” Elkana said.

The PPRO also said that the arrest of armed robbery suspects and recovery of firearms by Anti-Crime patrol team from Mushin Police Station led by Inspector Atipi Agasa  while on patrol along Olorunsogo bus stop Mushin intercepted one Omisogun Mathew ‘male’ 25 years old and Yetunde Lawson ‘Female’ 28 years  on a motorcycle.

“On sighting the police team the hoodlums attempted to escape but were given a hot chase. One  locally made double barrel pistol with two  life cartridges  was recovered from them.  The suspects belong to a five-man armed robbery syndicate operating in Mushin, Ikotun and Igando areas of Lagos State. The suspects were transferred to SARS for discreet  investigation  and will be charged to Court” Elkana concluded.
