The Police in Anambra has shut existing food markets in the state in line with the state government’s directive.
According to SP Haruna Mohammed, spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, “In order to enhance Social distance and hygiene during the lockdown period, the Anambra State Government has designated ‘new’ markets for food items established in all communities of the State according to respective Local Govt Areas.
“In view of the above, the Command whishes to notify the public that effective from 8am on Tuesday 14/4/2020, all existing food markets are to be shut down completely till further notice. Sellers of Food items and other essential consumables are required to move their commodities to the freshly designated locations.”
Mohammed explained that the essence of the new locations is to restrict commercial activities to food items and other approved essentials and to ensure that buying and selling hold within a well spaced environment that permits observance of the social distancing protocol.
The markets in every community will operate between 8am and 3pm daily, the Police said.
Market leaders and affected vendors have been fully notified while Transition Commitee Chairmen, PGs of Communities will be on ground to manage the new facilities.

The Anambra state police command do not even want to hear that you went out to buy food stuff, you will be taken to the police station, detained, ransomed before bail will be granted
Continuing from there, another police patrol team from another station picks you up and so on.
Is this the way we should go?
Government just talking on the media without any assistance or solutions to the vulnerable.
Coronavirus disease is not going to deal with much poor people (that is if it exists at all in this part of the world).
What will deal heavily with the poor is HUNGER/STARVATION, ROBBERY/HOODLUMS ATTACKS.
