Political Associates and key government functionaries from Lagos state at the weekend celebrated two term landmark development projects in Osun state under governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The celebration was the a public presentation of the Coffee Book titled, ‘Liberty And Revolution’ a reflection of eight years of the governor in office.
The book edited by Wale Adeoye, executive secretary of Journalists for Democratic Rights, JODER, was meant to document in the most concise format, the radical achievements of the government of the state of Osun during the period between 2010 to 2018.
The book provided guidelines to millions of people who wish to know the economic, political and social activities in the state through the tough and sometimes controversial eight years of the governor.
Speaking at the event, Adeoye reflected on how Aregbesola triumphed in the cobweb of teething troubles that he encountered as governor of the state.
He said history will remember the dogged battle he waged to reclaim his stolen mandate between 2007 and 2010, and with all the struggles he was able to achieve much for the people.
Recalling some of his achievements, the book presented successes in the area of agriculture under which the Osun Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Programme, OREAP, helped in the distribution of 500,000 cocoa seedlings free of charge to cocoa farmers, 6,000 kola distributed to kola farmers, 6,000 bitter kola seedlings to bitter kola farmers while 64,000 oil palm seedlings and 25,000 cashew seedlings were equally distributed free to farmers, among other achievements in that sector.
The governor also initiated Osun Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme, O-MEALS, now a reference point for many international agencies.
He also excelled in urban renewal and infrastructure development as captured in the book.
