The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Port Harcourt II Command has collected N731.2 billion in revenue for 2025, exceeding its ambitious target of N700.01 billion by N31.25 billion, a stellar 4.46 per cent over performance.

This success builds on the command’s strong 2024 results and significantly bolsters Nigeria’s federal revenue stream amid economic challenges.

Comptroller Aliyu M. Alkali’s visionary leadership drove this accomplishment, aligning seamlessly with the policy thrust of Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR.

Key enablers included the deployment of the indigenous Unified Customs Management System (B’ODOGWU) platform, which accelerated cargo clearance and minimized delays for legitimate traders.

Under Alkali’s guidance, the command enforced strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), upheld exemplary officer discipline, and cultivated robust stakeholder engagement. These measures optimized efficiency, reduced revenue leakages, and enhanced trade facilitation at critical ports like Onne, Rivers Port, and PNIPPC.

Comptroller Alkali expressed profound gratitude to the NCS management, led by the Comptroller-General, for creating an enabling environment. He also hailed critical stakeholders including shipping lines, terminal operators, and licensed agents for their unwavering cooperation and synergy, which were pivotal to this triumph.

The officers’ dedication shone brightest in anti-smuggling efforts, where they intercepted 75 containers with a cumulative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N47.6 billion. Notably, 30 of these containers held expired, illicit, and unregistered pharmaceutical products posing serious public health risks. Other seizures targeted cargoes violating various Customs and Excise laws, from under-declaration to prohibited goods.

“This uncompromised posture and patriotism have forged incredible milestones, serving as a strong deterrent to potential violators,” Comptroller Alkali stated. “We urge importers and Customs licensed agents to embrace honest declarations. Port Harcourt II Command remains steadfast in facilitating legitimate trade, enforcing regulations with integrity, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.”

This revenue feat and enforcement success underscore NCS Port Harcourt II Command’s role in driving economic growth, protecting public health, and securing borders.
