A mammoth crowd of Adoration Ministry faithful were on hand to welcome Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria Catholic Chaplaincy’s spiritual leader, back to Nigeria following his three months stay at the St Andrews Monastery in Los Angeles, United States of America (USA)q.

Mbaka in 2022 stirred controversy with his comments on politics related issues. On June 3, 2022, Mbaka was prohibited by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu from commenting on political matters as a result of the suspension of ministry activities.

The cleric, in another outburst flouted the Bishop’s directive and so was moved from the chaplaincy to the monastery by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, in October 2022.

Rev. Fr. Anthony Amadi was appointed to take over as the new chaplain of the Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy in place of Rev. Fr. Mbaka, a move opposed vehemently by the Adoration Ministry faithful.

Three months after, Reverend Father Mbaka, has returned to Nigeria to a raucous welcome from his devotees. He was greeted enthusiastically on arrival in Enugu on Wednesday January 4.

It was not clear at press time what the conditions for his return are, whether he is going to take back his position at the Chaplaincy or whether he will be returning to the Monastery in the United States.
