Prof. Lumumba, Dr. Ocansey For JIFORM-NEKOTECH 2020 Ghana Summit

Journalists International Forum For Migration, (JIFORM) is working round the clock to ensure that the success of 2021JIFORM-NEKOTECH GHANA MEDIA SUMMIT on migration scheduled for January 21 and 22, 2021 in Accra-Ghana is accomplished.

The summit is in collaboration with NEKOTECH Center for Excellence, Ghana led by Member of AU Advisory Committee on Labour and Migration Dr. Princess A.K Ocansey seeks to discuss and address state of African migrants especially in the Middle East, myriad of other migration issues confronting Africans on the continent.

A statement issued on Monday by JIFORM Local Organising Committee Chair Rev. Jerry Akornor called on Government of Ghana, immigration experts, political actors, media practitioners, Civil Society Organizations, Non-governmental organizations, Corporate Ghana, African governments, embassies etc. to partner JIFORM to find remedy to unresolved issues of migration.

JIFORM comprises of over 250 Journalists across the globe reporting on migration matters affecting people in and outside the shores of their home country, with the Headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria.

The 2021 JIFORM Ghana Summit would attract heads of states, top media executives and migration experts across Africa.

The  JIFORM-NEKOTECH GHANA MEDIA SUMMIT on the theme : “Migration, Trade and Investment”, would also feature renowned anti-graft campaigner and Director of Kenyan Law School Prof. Patrick Lumumba as a Guest Speaker, Former Minister of Citizenship and Immigration in Canada, Hon. Gerry Weiner, including lawmakers, ministers of states across the globe and International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ghana, Nigeria, Gambia, University of Ghana’s Center for Migration Studies in Accra, Immigration Expert Dr. Amanda Coffie.

“The purpose of the summit is to equip and upgrade knowledge of media practitioners, stakeholders, participants on migration related issues whilst leading strong advocacy against the Kafala slavery system in the middle East where many African ladies are enslaved amidst human rights abuses”.

As part of its contributions to the body of knowledge, a publication on key concepts on migration terminologies as a proven guide for media reportage will also be unveiled by JIFORM during the occasion.
