The House of Representatives has appealed to federal government to intervene and end the repatriation of Almagiri children to their states of origin.
The call was made on Tuesday following a motion sponsored by a member of the House, Aishatu Dukku, from Gombe at plenary on Tuesday.
According to Dukku, the repatriation of Almajiri children was against the fundamental human rights of any Nigerian to reside in any part of the country.
The lawmaker also expressed concern over the mode of transportation of the children which allegedly subject them to inhuman treatment.
She described it as dehumanising, stressing that the children were packed into vehicles in the scorching sun.
