The immediate past Head of Service of Ekiti State, Dr.Olugbenga Faseluka has stressed the need for a review of the allocation formula in favour of the sub-national levels of government.
Faseluka made the call in Ado Ekiti while receiving an award presented to him by the National Association of Health Practitioners of Nigeria.
The former Head of Service said the review will enable States and local governments to meet their statutory obligations in view of the newly signed minimum wage.
Dr. Faseluka who is also a lawyer said the review will also enable the two other tiers of government deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
“There is an imperative need to review the current Revenue Allocation Formula in favour of sub-national levels of government i.e the States and Local Government to enable them function and deliver service.
The review as canvassed will enable them honour their obligations especially the payment of the new minimum wage and consequential salary adjustment across board”, he said.
While calling on governments at all levels to create a conducive environment for the public service to thrive, Faseluka urged the health workers to continue to render selfless and professional service to the people as their job remains the “pillars upon which societal health and wellbeing are erected”.
His words: “I like to remind community health practitioners of the prime
importance of your job in preventive health care. Your job remains the very sub-structure upon which the pillars of societal health and wellbeing are erected.
Accordingly, your service must be rendered professionally and selflessly at all times. This is moreso in the face of the hazardous nature of your practice. May God continue to reward you accordingly”.
