The Executive Director, Information Technology and Business Strategy, Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO), Babatunde Afolabi, has been awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree, Doctor of Science (D.SC Hons) in Business Development and Strategic Management by the European-American University.
The award event took place in Lome, Togo during the sixteenth anniversary of the University. Relaying the history and philosophy of the institution to the audience, Professor John Kersey who is the president of the institution, in his address said “For some years, it had become apparent that there was an opportunity for a selective private University structured on a Federal model, connecting together different countries, but using technology of the Internet as its primary basis for the network”. He stressed that the American-European University does not operate the “bricks-and-mortar” operation, hence has taken advantage of the Internet Technology as its primary basis for that network.
The 2019 awardees consists of people who have made marks in their various field of endeavors.
Babatunde Afolabi is a graduate of Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa, Canada. He has extensive technical skills in Information Technology, spanning programming languages, database, scripts, web designing, design tools and operating systems.
Babatunde, who commenced his career at Kraneum Technology, Boston , Massachusetts has worked in various capacity in different organizations ranging from Sifax shipping Limited, Lagos, Nigeria, Sentinel Consulting, Toronto, Canada, Giatec Scientific, Ontario, Canada is currently the Executive Director, Information Technology and Business Strategy, SAHCO PLC.
Apart from his work experience, Babatunde is also a developer. He developed Chico Robot System (an environmentally responsive real time system using Eclipse IDE, C, C++, and Microcontrollers); Intellishade Blind System (a responsive real time embedded system that responds to environmental factors using PHP, Python, Java, HTML5); MenuBook (a web application for reserving restaurant place and ordering on menu before arrival using different programming languages and technology platform) and Hawker (a mobile application used to control subscription and retail marketing using geofencing.
Babatunde Afolabi is currently the Executive Director, I.T and Business Development in SAHCO. Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC is an aviation ground handling company where speed, efficiency and safety is their watch word. SAHCO is involved in Passenger Handling, Ramp Handling, Cargo and Warehousing, Aviation Security, VIP Lounge services, Crew administration, Ad hoc flight handling and other aviation related services.
