There will be a Service of Songs for renowned journalist and Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of The Rainbow News, Deacon Chijama Ogbu, at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Elijah Christian Centre, No. 1, Orowumi Street, Orile Iganmu on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Deacon Ogbu passed on to glory at 59 on December 5, 2022.
After the Service of Songs in Lagos, there will be a Christian Wake Keep on Friday, January 13, 2023, at his Permanent Home Compound at Mkpamute Ulo, Enugu-Ezike, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
A Funeral Service will hold on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 9:00 am before interment at his compound opposite Community Secondary School, Mkpamute Ulo, Enugu-Ezike, Igbo-Eze North LGA, Enugu State at 11:00am.
The highly respected media practitioner, who had a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Hons degree in English and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), was a consummate business and economy journalist, rising to become, at different times, Group Business Editor at the Punch Newspapers Nigeria Limited and Group Business Editor at the Post Express Newspapers also in Lagos.
Gentle and described as friend of all, Chijama Ogbu, who founded The Rainbow News, an online news platform, was also an incisive analyst who took principled positions on major economic, political and social issues of the day.
A member of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Deacon Ogbu is survived by his wife, children, brothers, sisters and other relatives.
His professional colleagues, industry contacts, brethren from the Church, relatives, friends and well-wishers from far and near are expected to attend the Service of Songs in Lagos on Saturday and the other programmes in Enugu State, arranged to give the gallant soldier of Christ a fitting final farewell.
