Indigenous oil and gas company SEPLAT Petroleum Development Co PLC has denied violating local content policy for the Assa North and Ohaji South project, onshore Nigeria.
The project is still in development and has not yet reached the Final Investment Decision. SEPLAT is currently in consultation with the Nigerian Contact Development Management Board. The board has reviewed the contracting strategy for the project, and both it and SEPLAT will work together to achieve all applicable approvals.
Oriental News Nigeria reports that last year, the company also failed to take a final investment decision (FID) for the Assa North-Ohaji South (ANOH) gas processing plant, described as one of the largest greenfield gas condensate development projects in Nigeria.
Seplat Petroleum Development Company, developers of the 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) ANOH gas processing plant gave the indication in its consolidated interim financial results for the nine months ended 30 September 2017.
Oil Mining License (OML) 53, which is operated by Seplat also contains the large undeveloped Ohaji South gas and condensate field, the development of which will be coordinated with the Shell operated Assa North field, together referred to as the ANOH project, has been at the core of the investors’ plans to significantly increase gas production and boost supply to the domestic market.
Discussions had been ongoing for a while now between Shell JV (OML 21) and Seplat JV (OML 53) on a framework to progress the upstream and midstream elements of the project to FID in 2017.
