Nigerian independent company Seplat Energy has been confirmed as a Platinum Sponsor at this year’s African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 Conference and Exhibition. The sponsorship reflects the company’s growing role in Africa’s oil and gas sector and its commitment to expanding energy access, increasing production and advancing natural gas development.

The AEW 2026 taking place in Cape Town from October 12‒16 – serves as the premier platform for energy investment in Africa. The event brings together government leaders, national oil companies, international operators, financiers, service providers and technology investors to accelerate project development and unlock new opportunities across the continent’s oil, gas and energy industries.

Seplat Energy has been rapidly expanding its footprint across Africa’s oil and gas sector.

The company reported a robust first quarter in 2026, generating revenue of $840.7 million and reducing net debt by 21 per cent quarter-on-quarter to $531.6 million. Supported by disciplined capital allocation, strong commodity prices and an effective risk-management strategy, Seplat continues to strengthen its balance sheet while maintaining one of the strongest growth trajectories among Africa’s independent producers.

A key milestone achieved this year was the successful commissioning and first gas production from the ANOH Gas Plant in January 2026. With a capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day, ANOH is expected to play a pivotal role in increasing gas availability for industrial users, power generation and economic development while supporting Nigeria’s broader gas monetization objectives.

Operationally, Seplat remains focused on increasing production and maximizing value from its expanded asset portfolio. The company is targeting full-year production of between 135,000 and 155,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2026, supported by a capital expenditure program of $360 million to $440 million and a 17-well drilling campaign spanning both on- and offshore assets.

Beyond upstream growth, Seplat continues to advance strategic gas developments, including the Oso-BRT Phase 1 project, which remains on track for completion in the third quarter of 2026 and is expected to double offshore gas sales capacity to approximately 240 million standard cubic feet per day.

Meanwhile, expansion projects at the Sapele Integrated Gas Plant are set to increase processing capacity while supporting LPG production and broader domestic energy access initiatives.

The company is also pursuing a long-term development strategy across its enlarged offshore portfolio following the integration of assets acquired through the Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited transaction. Seplat plans to restore and redevelop hundreds of previously underutilized wells while adding between 50 and 70 new wells by 2030, creating substantial opportunities for production growth, local content development and supply-chain participation.

“Seplat Energy has emerged as one of Africa’s most successful indigenous energy champions, demonstrating how African companies can drive large-scale investment, expand energy infrastructure and create long-term value across the continent. The company’s continued investments in oil and gas production, domestic gas commercialization and local content development are helping strengthen Africa’s energy security while supporting sustainable economic growth,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber.
