In a deliberate move to deal with the dearth of aviation fuel and also ensure the country is wet with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also called fuel, three vessels laden with the products are expected to berth in Lagos.
Apart from fuel, other ships with various commodities are being expected.
According to Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Shipping Position publication, twenty-two ships with petroleum products, food items, and other goods are expected to arrive Apapa and Tin-Can Island Ports in Lagos.
The ships are expected to arrive at the ports from Jan. 10 to Jan. 21.
NPA said that the remaining 19 ships were carrying buck wheat, general cargoes, base oil, frozen fish, aviation fuel, empty container, bulk gypsum and containers.
It said that four ships were waiting to berth with bulk fertiliser, containers, frozen fish, and petrol.
Eighteen other ships are at the ports discharging empty containers, bulk wheat, bulk fertiliser, frozen fish, containers, aviation fuel, bulk gypsum and petrol.
Meanwhile the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) yesterday began its three-day nationwide warning strike over unresolved labour issues with multinationals operating in the oil and gas industry.
This action accordingly to experts may trigger another round of products scarcity and hardship to citizens.
