The incumbent governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who won in all the 21 Local Government Areas of the state in the November 8th gubernatorial election, has been declared the winner and re-elected for a second term with 422,664 votes.

The governor’s closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 99,445 votes from the total votes cast.

Governor Soludo was announced the winner by the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the election, Professor Edoba Bright Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, in an election described as free and fair, considering the country’s political landscape.

Other results announced include ADC 8,208, YPP 37753, LP 10576, PDP 1,401, APN 892, and ZLP 453, among others.

The re-election of Governor Soludo, as seen by many in the state, and across the country, stems from his incredible performance in governance which has led to the infrastructure and transformation of Anambra into a destination where economic and business activities thrive, and a livable homeland where the people can invest, lie peacefully, play and enjoy, with laudable reforms in vital sectors of the state’s economy.

These achievements hinge on what Governor Soludo stated are five pillars: security, infrastructure and economic transformation, human capital and social agenda, governance and values, and environmental sustainability.

Under Governor Soludo, Anambra State topped the list in the 2025 State of States Fiscal Performance ranking of BudgIT, as the best-performing state in the country, with achievements that have received commendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who described the governor as a ‘progressive,’ with whom he would like to work, a friend since 2003.

The governor has also been active in the area of agriculture; in education, with free education to students and schools built, with the employment of 8,115 additional teachers, together with the regeneration of tertiary institutions in the state; and in health, where five new general hospitals have been built, others renovated, with telemedicine and free healthcare services for pregnant women.

His Homeland Security Law has birthed the state security system, Agunechemba, to complement the existing security network, and the formation of Operation Udo Ga-Achi forces has drastically reduced the crime rate in the state. In human capital development, the governor has empowered over 30,000 youths in digital skills. Also, his administration has digitalised the governance systems, among others.
