The South Energyx Nigeria, developers of Eko Atlantic City, has denied reports that immediate past executive governor of Lagos state Akinwumi Ambode own some properties in the ongoing project.

According to a statement by David Adeleke, Head of Communications, South Energyx Nigeria, “On Thursday, September 5th, 2019, online tabloid Sahara Reporters published a story titled “Ambode’s Many Sins against Lagosians (Part 1)’ which laid unverified and unsubstantiated claims that former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode is linked with the ownership of “some prime skyscrapers in Eko Atlantic City” using diverted state resources.

Adeleke, however described the report as completely false saying that Ambode has no ownership or links to any sky scrapers in Eko Atlantic City.

“We can also confirm that we were never contacted by Sahara Reporters to confirm the claims before the article was published.

Meanwhile, all efforts to contact Sahara Reporters to provide an official statement has proved futile. We hereby demand a public retraction of the claims made in the article as it is misleading and inaccurate.” the statement said.
