Southeast Ndigbo-Amaka a socio-political group of all Igbos from the Southeast Geopolitical zone of Nigeria in Lagos has called on Igbos to be part of the democratic process by fully engaging in political activities with the view to ensuring that credible persons are voted into political offices.
President, South-East Ndigbo-Amaka Group, Mr. Leonard Ogbonna who made the charged Nigerians particularly the Igbo-speaking communities in Lagos State, to participate fully in the 2015 general elections, urging Nigerians to trust the ability of government to conduct credible polls.
He said while addressing over 58 market associations, during the market summit and voters’ education organised by the group meant to sensitize members on the importance of voting for credible candidates in 2015 at the trade fair complex, Lagos explained that the programme became necessary to stress the need for members to participate actively in the current democratic dispensation.
He said the event was to create a synergy among over 58 major market associations and Igbo professionals in Lagos.
He said: “Government policies play a major role in regulating our business environment; therefore we have resolved to be part of the election process.”
Southeast Ndigbo Lagos was formed as an organization that would champion the articulation and promotion of the good ideals of the society. The group is fully committed to the comprehensive and beneficial articulation and promotion of the opinions, aspirations and strategies of the Igbo man in the larger Nigerian community.
‘In pursuit of this core objective, we seek collaboration with well meaning persons and organizations and are therefore always prepared to deploy our structure for the optimal realization of mutual benefits and this we have been doing from inception.
The Southeast Ndigbo-Amaka Lagos, strongly believe that President Goodluck Jonathan is the right leader at this moment. He has demonstrated his ability to deliver economic and social development since taking office in May 2010. Nigeria is being transformed at an unprecedented pace under his able leadership’ he claimed.
